3 HISTORICAL CLIFF BURTON VIDEO FOOTAGE FOUND

Unavailable for over twenty-one years, watch CLIFF BURTON's head-banging
1982 performance with heavy metal group TRAUMA only 24 hours before being discovered by Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich. Enjoy this extremely rare performance that for the first time is available to Metallica and Cliff fans.

Don Wrege, director of "Trauma Live" speaks:

"In the summer of 1982 I was working in Los Angeles and was contacted by a British fellow calling himself Tony. He asked me if I would be interested in directing a long-form music video for a heavy metal band he was managing out of San Francisco called Trauma.

We met and I was impressed with his enthusiasm for the band and heavy metal in general (which was not at all in vogue at the time). Tony was sure that heavy metal was soon going to be huge in the states and he was setting Trauma up for the big time. We settled on a price and I went a rehearsal to check them out.

What I encountered was loud, and I was immediately struck with how good the bass player (Cliff Burton) was. Their show included such interesting attractions as a scantily-clad woman in a leather S&M outfit chained to a huge cross; another girl in virginal white who was sacrificed on an alter during the song "I Am the Warlock;" (Tony had flown in two Mustang Ranch girls from Nevada for these parts.) and the drummer's solo during which he sets his kit on fire, nearly blinding himself in the process.

On the day of the shoot as preparations were made to the studio stage, I stepped outside to have a smoke and Cliff joined me in my car. He mentioned that he didn't think he was long for the group, that they weren't motivated enough and he intended to be famous fast. That was fairly prophetic, in that the next night Trauma played the Troubador and legend has it that it was at this performance that Lars Ulrich approached Burton about playing in Metallica. Fans know the rest.

This video has remained underground for a number of reasons, including the fact that the band's pyrotechnics blew two large holes in the video studio's ceiling and the repair costs were to be included in the price for the master tapes (which became a point of contention). Then there was the "equipment matter." Seems that manager Tony had borrowed a ton of gear from an LA music store (he was a great talker) that you'll see on stage behind the group in the video. They were to use it for the shoot, then the Troubador performance the next night and then return it. Trouble was, Tony had the band load up the truck with the amps and then disappeared, never to be heard from again. At least that's the legend. The tape itself became my payment for services and has remained in my private collection since 1982 due to my concerns about bootlegging, etc.

Now Metallica fans can now see what Lars saw. This riveting 19-minute set includes a powerful Burton bass solo and his musically manic thrashing throughout.

Oh, and a human sacrifice. "

The lost Cliff Burton videotape "Trauma Live" will soon be available for online viewing via this webpage: http://www.simulstream.com/cliff

3 FIREBALL MINISTRY SPREADS THE WORD

FIREBALL MINISTRY will perform their last U.S. show of 2003 November 10 at The Viper Room in Los Angeles. Next, the band will launch a European trek December 3 in Germany with famed British hard-rockers Uriah Heep and heavy metal gurus Blue Oyster Cult. These dates are on the heels of FIREBALL MINISTRY’s October U.S. tour in support of THE SECOND GREAT AWAKENING, their newly released Nuclear Blast debut with opening act Puny Human (whose drummer is Iann Robinson from MTV News). The Los Angeles stop on the tour--also FIREBALL MINISTRY’s CD release party--at the Troubadour brought out members of Slipknot and System of A Down.

Meanwhile, FIREBALL MINISTRY’s current single “Flatline” is beginning to gain momentum at radio, climbing both the metal and rock charts. In addition, the video for “Flatline” has been officially added to MTV2’s “Headbanger’s Ball” and will soon hit other video outlets. Directed by Dylan Carter, the clip takes place at a warehouse in downtown Los Angeles and features the band’s live performance contrasted with a hooded spy planting cameras and filming the band voyeuristically.

On THE SECOND GREAT AWAKENING, Grammy Award-winning producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters One By One, Danzig, Velvet Revolver) underlines the co-ed band’s massive stoner-rock thunder and classic 70’s crunch in a modern sonic mix that’s melodic and unforgettable. Standout tracks include the raucous anthem “King,” the steady, heavy-hitting “Master Of None” and the haunting rock of “In The Mourning.” An homage to the cult album covers of the 70’s, THE SECOND GREAT AWAKENING features the exclusive cover artwork of cult comic artist/graphic novelist Dan Brereton (Nocturnals, www.nocturnals.com). Dan Brereton’s caricature of the band brings ferocity of FIREBALL MINISTRY to the forefront.

4 FIRST TASTE OF LAST AUTUMN'S DREAM

Frontiers Records is delighted to announce the signing of LAST AUTUMN’S DREAM self titled debut album for the european release on January 19th 2004 ! LAST AUTUMN’S DREAM is a new melodic rock super-group featuring famed Swedish singer Mikael Erlandsson together with former FAIR WARNING guitarist Andy Malecek plus the three EUROPE cohorts Mic Michaeli (on keyboards), John Leven (on bass) and Ian Haugland (on drums).

The idea of this band came about when Mikael’s record company in Japan proposed him to join forces with the fantastic guitar player Andy Malecek who enjoyed great success in the German hard rock band Fair Warning. Mikael and Andy were both hooked by the idea and a plan for the album began to grow. Mikael’s production companies in Sweden: XTC Productions/Studio in Stockholm and Sunday Music in Gothenburg also supported the idea and they turned to Ian Haugland, Mic Michaeli and John Levén from Europe and asked if they were interested. After listening to Mikael and Andy’s new, strong material, they all decided to join in and the band Last Autumn’s Dream was born.

The album was recorded in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Berlin and includes the following eleven tracks: Again and Again; Doin’ Time (exclusive bonus track for Europe); Guardian Angel; Break The Chains (Of Destiny); Blink Of An Eye; Talk To Me; The One; I Never Let You Go; High Up; Movin’ On; Going Home.

5 KELLY OSBOURNE SPEAKS OUT ON THE IDEA OF COVERING A BLACK SABBATH SONG

Kelly Osbourne told MTV.com that the idea to cover one of her
father's songs had been long suggested by fans and family alike, but
she wasn't one to deliver the obvious.

"We always thought it would be a cliché to [cover one of my father's
songs]," Kelly admitted. "Then I sat with the song for a day and
rewrote the lyrics. And we recorded the song in three hours."

Kelly and Ozzy's version of "Changes" which originally appeared on
her father's band's 1972 album, "Black Sabbath Vol. 4", now refers to
a child growing up and leaving the nest instead of a lament over a
lost love. Ozzy sings, "She was my baby" rather than "She was my
woman," and "My heart was blinded/ Love went astray" became "My
baby's grown now/ She's found her way."

The song is one of the new tracks that appear on Kelly's reissued
debut, "Shut Up", which has been retitled "Changes". It is the
singer's first effort for Sanctuary Records following a split with
Epic earlier in the year.

"Epic was just not the record company for me," Kelly said. "They're
not particularly a good one. They didn't know how to market me, they
didn't know how to categorize me and really what to do with me."

"They assumed Kelly was a flop when she sold 200,000 units," added
her brother, Jack. "They were expecting her to be like J. Lo and sell
50 million." ["Shut Up" has sold just over 155,000 copies since its
November release, according to Nielsen SoundScan]

"You can't put an album out without any promotion and expect it to
sell," Kelly said. "To sell that many units with zero promotion is
pretty good. There are bands that tour for five years that only sell
200,000 units, so I was really happy with what it did."

As previously reported, Ozzy and Kelly will perform their rendition
of "Changes" on an upcoming episode of "The Sharon Osbourne Show". No
date has yet been set for the taping, according to a spokesperson for
Sharon Osbourne Management.

5 OZZY OSBOURNE RESCHEDULE REST OF EUROPEAN TOUR

OZZY OSBOURNE's rescheduled European tour, which has been postponed
twice, will now take place in January/February. So far, only one date
has been leaked: January 28 at the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki,
Finland.

Finnish goth-metallers H.I.M., who were set to occupy the middle slot
on the tour, will not be supporting OSBOURNE on the rescheduled trek.
Instead, the band will embark on their own headlining run of dates,
the exact details for which will be announced soon.

H.I.M. dates currently confirmed are as follows:

Jan. 25 - Birmingham, UK @ Academy
Jan. 26 - Glasgow, UK @ Barrowlands
Jan. 28 - Bristol, UK @ Academy
Jan. 29 - Portsmouth, UK @ Pyramid Centre
Jan. 30 - Manchester, UK @ Academy
Jan. 31 - Nottingham, UK @ Rock City

As reported last week, Osbourne canceled his planned European tour
because new medication he is on causes him to have dry mouth and he
therefore cannot sing.

7 SIX FEET UNDER's BARNES: 'CANNIBAL CORPSE Were Jealous Of Me'

SIX FEET UNDER singer Chris Barnes recently spoke to Music Incider about his departure from CANNIBAL CORPSE in the mid-'90s after a nine-year tenure with the group.

"Those guys, I had less respect for them at a certain point in time because of how I felt I was being treated," he said. "I felt like I was being alienated almost, and not really respected for what I had accomplished within the band. I felt they were jealous of me, and those emotions came out in our personal behavior towards each other. I think that they wanted more say in what I was getting credit for. I didn't go at it to get credit for things. I went at it to create something on my end of things that was just as good as what they were creating with their music. It wasn't my fault that people wanted to talk to me about things, but I think they took it like that and it they took it on themselves to really want to tell me how to write things. They wanted to make me feel like I wasn't good enough, and I felt like I was writing good music. We would be in the studio, and they would decide that they didn't like what I had written. I was adamant. I felt that it was better than they could ever write, and over the years my stuff got way more respect than what they thought I could do, but what they thought I could do is what they wanted me to do, so I have to respect that. That's my whole circle.

"I am much happier [now]. I am not stressed out about the people I am with. I am never stressed out about that. I am more stressed out about being able to get this band [SIX FEET UNDER] to overtake the world. To make the mark."
7 POISON's BRET MICHAELS Explains VINCE NEIL Shoving Incident

In a brand-new interview published in the January 2004 issue of Metal Edge magazine, POISON frontman Bret Michaels commented on the scuffle that occurred on one of the last dates of the band's summer tour involving MÖTLEY CRÜE singer Vince Neil, one of the supporting acts on the bill. Michaels was very reluctant to divulge many details about the incident, but did give a brief rundown:

"The argument started between Rikki [Rockett, POISON drummer] and their bass played over something that, to this day, I couldn't tell you what it was. Apparently, Vince — I don't know if he thought it was me or whatever, but he came up to the bus and I'm signing an autograph for a mom and a daughter, and I said, 'Vince, you're standing there screaming at me, dude.' I said, 'What do you wanna do? Do you wanna fight? Do you wanna talk? What do you wanna do?' And then it just broke into all hell. All of a sudden, he turned around and shoved Big John, our bodyguard, then John grabbed him, then Vince grabbed Bobby [Dall, POISON bassist]. It got stupid, and then it got resolved, because he continued to do the rest of the dates and stuff… I consider Vince to be a friend. I think there was a little too much alcohol involved. Nothing ever really bad came from it — me and him sat in the back of the bus for two hours and talked that night."

Michaels recently hit the road in support of his new solo disc, "Songs of Life". Remaining tour dates are as follows:

Nov. 06 - Starkville, MS @ Remington's Hunt Club

BODY COUNT Name New Album

BODY COUNT, the rock group led by rapper and actor Ice-T, have set "Murder For Hire" as the title for their first album in seven years, tentatively due in early 2004.

The band, whose previous drummer Beatmaster V died of leukemia and bassist Mooseman was killed in a drive-by shooting in South Central Los Angeles, have been inactive since the release of 1997's "Violent Demise: Last Days".

BODY COUNT were the focus of national media attention with their controversial song "Cop Killer", which was included on the group's self-titled debut in 1991.
7 AEROSMITH's STEVEN TYLER Lends A Sober Hand

AEROSMITH frontman Steven Tyler told the Hollywood Reporter he "cherishes" getting late-night phone calls from musicians on the verge of doing drugs, because it beats the alternative.

"In the old days, (the calls were) 'Hey Steven, Joe died'," he said.

Tyler is part of the Musicians Assistance Program, a network of sober musicians who help others get through rough patches in rehab and recovery.

So when MAP founder Buddy Arnold called Tyler at 3 a.m. after a recent Madison Square Garden gig and asked him to call an up-and-coming musician who was struggling to stay sober, Steven was happy to oblige.

"Hi, it's Steven Tyler," he told the musician who freaked out in disbelief. "Yeah, dude, someone said you were thinking about getting high. Tell me about it, because I think about it all day long, and I've got 17 years sober."

After the chat, the musician decided not to go off the wagon that night.

POWERMAN 5000: Is The End Near? - Nov. 6, 2003

POWERMAN 5000 are strongly rumored to have been dropped by Dreamworks Records as a result of the disappointing sales performance of the band's last outing, "Transform".

"Transform", which debuted at No. 27 on The Billboard 200 album chart in late May, has shifted 148,561 copies in the U.S. so far, according to Nielsen SoundScan — a far cry from the 1,316,172 units registered by its predecessor, 1999's "Tonight The Stars Revolt!" The band's 1997 offering, "Mega!! Kung Fu Radio", has sold 156,954 copies to date.

POWERMAN 5000 were originally scheduled to release the their projected follow-up to "Tonight…" on August 28, 2001, but just two weeks before the release date, the band announced they were heading back into the studio to record new songs for the album. The group's scheduled headlining tour was cancelled, and the album release was postponed indefinitely.

Early last month, POWERMAN 5000 withdrew from their tour with MUDVAYNE, FINGERTIGHT and V-SHAPED MIND after their tour support was reportedly pulled by Dreamworks. The band's frontman, Spider One, blamed the move on declining record sales, stating "the music business is in the toilet — no one is buying CDs, and less and less people are going to see bands live. Every major label in America has lost an obscene amount of money this year and it's getting worse every day. Don't get me wrong, I'm not asking you to feel sorry for the labels, but the reality is this: if they're not making any money, you better believe your favorite band isn't doing too well either."

A representative for the band's management, The Firm, declined to comment on the latest reports when contacted earlier Thursday.
7 Brides of Destruction release debutalbum at the end of December

BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION, the new band featuring MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx, L.A. GUNS guitarist Tracii Guns, vocalist London LeGrand, and drummer Scot Coogan (ex-PAUL GILBERT, ONI LOGAN/ROWAN ROBERTSON, SINÉAD O'CONNOR), have set December 25 as the Japanese release date through Universal Records for their debut album, "Here Come The Brides".

The CD, which features contributions from previous members John Corabi (ex-MÖTLEY CRÜE, UNION) and Kris Kohls (ADEMA), contains album-quality demos recorded during the pre-production sessions for what was supposed to be the group's "proper" full-length debut. All songs were produced by Stevo Bruno at Klown Records in Santa Monica, California and were mixed by producer Steve Thompson (KORN, METALLICA, GUNS N' ROSES).

The band recently finalized an agreement with an as-yet-undisclosed label for the release of the album in the European and American territories.

The complete track listing for "Here Come The Brides" is as follows:

01. Shut The Fuck Up
02. I Don't Care
03. Two Times Dead
04. Brace Yourself
05. I Got A Gun
06. Life
07. Natural Born Killers
08. Revolution
09. Only Get So Far

They are currently in the studio writing new material for their upcoming third record and the process is going very well. Projections for the release of the third record are fall of 2004 or spring 2005. The 'Music As A Weapon' DVD/CD has a tentative release date of Feb. 4th, 2004. The final touches are being put on that project as we speak. The band is also hoping to organize a charity softball game and live performance in Chicago sometime in the spring with all of the proceeds being donated to a local female cancer research foundation. More details on that will be available after the new year. The band appreciates the contributions Fuzz had made to the band and they wish him the best in any and all future projects.

"As far as the exact reasons why DISTURBED and Fuzz have parted ways, as well as whose decision it was and why the decision was made, I hope everyone can appreciate that all four parties involved would like to keep that information confidential. I would like to encourage all of you to try and respect the band's privacy on this issue, and to continue showing the amazing amount of support you all have to this point, not only towards DISTURBED's future, but to Fuzz's as well."

"Their success is huge. You can't knock LINKIN PARK's sales," P.O.D. frontman Sonny Sandoval told MTV.com about playing second on the bill. "There's no pride here. 8 RHINO BUCKET: New EP Details Revealed

RHINO BUCKET, the Bon Scott-era AC/DC sound-alike band that recorded two albums for Warner Bros./EMI back in '90 and '92 and an independent album in '94 with former AC/DC drummer Simon Wright, are in the process of recording a new EP which they will use to procure a record contract and manager. The three songs currently being recorded, according to singer Georg Dolivo, are "Swinging With Sally", "Smile" and "She Rides".

After a seven-year hiatus, RHINO BUCKET recently re-emerged for select bar dates in Southern California. A North American tour is tentatively scheduled to begin in early 2004.
8 IRON MAIDEN Producer Defends 'Dance Of Death' Sound

IRON MAIDEN producer Kevin Shirley, who has worked with the group on their last two studio releases as well as the live album "Rock In Rio", has taken the unusual step of publicly defending the production on MAIDEN's latest CD, "Dance Of Death", calling it a perfect replica of the band's live sound.

Writing to his web site, Shirley said, "I have been getting all sorts of e-mails (yeah I read 'em, but don't reply to them all) about the sonic quality of 'Dance of Death'. Now, I don't need to qualify anything, except it sounds like that 'cos it's meant to sound like that! The band love it! Nicko [McBrain] prefers the energy of the drum/guitar balance to 'Brave New World', which actually featured more drums (which he liked). Steve [Harris] says the bass finally sounds like his rig sounds. The three amigos love the guitars — including the odd amp crackle and distortion which is the sound of them live — and that, my friends, is Bruce singing like he sings! Not coaxed, and digitally enhanced, tuned and corrected. IRON MAIDEN — captured. The songs are great, but not necessarily reflective of nu-metal themes — because THEY ARE NOT NU-METAL! That is IRON MAIDEN, and no one is stopping you filling up your CD players with LINKIN PARK, LIMP BIZKIT or CHEVELLE, or whatever the hell you think is a fine sounding record. (they all sound sonically pretty similar to me, whereas NO-ONE else sounds like MAIDEN. I love the album. So, Up the Irons - and for the know-it-all detractors = Up yours!"

Former PITCHSHIFTER Bassist Quits THE BLUEPRINT - Nov. 10, 2003

Former PITCHSHIFTER bassist Mark Clayden will be leaving THE BLUEPRINT following the group's Nov. 29 gig at the Garage in London.

Says Mark: "Although I will be playing bass on the upcoming BLUEPRINT album, my personal commitments are such that I don1t feel I would be able to give the 100% commitment THE BLUEPRINT deserves. I feel it's better for me to bow out on a high note and let the band continue with their success. I would like to thank the band and the fans for their continuing support, and to let them know that I have had a truly amazing time with THE BLUEPRINT. I feel lucky to have been a part of such an awesome family."

THE BLUEPRINT guitarist Matt Grundy added: "It's really gutting for us to see Mark go, but he has other things to move on to, and we wish him the best of luck for the future. Mark and I started this band together, and I'll always consider him a part of it, because it couldn't have happened without him. We'd all like to thank him for great times we've spent together, and the massive effort he has put into THE BLUEPRINT."

Clayden's replacement in THE BLUEPRINT will be CONSUMED bassist/ARMY OF FLYING ROBOTS drummer Luke Moss: "Rehearsals with Luke have been really cool so far," says Grundy. "He's a great musician, and it's awesome to have him in the band."

THE BLUEPRINT are currently writing material for their debut album, "Phenomenology", tentatively due in early 2004.

KORN Return To 'Sheer Hate And Anger' On Upcoming CD - Nov. 10, 2003

KORN frontman Jonathan Davis recently told MTV.com that the group's sixth LP, "Take a Look in the Mirror", due November 25, is their return to form.

"The whole album is about love, hate and my hate of people and just losing my mind," Davis explained. "The previous albums I did, I think the last three, I was coming from a place of hurt. And I just finally got to the point where I'm done hurting and I'm just pissed off about it now. It's turned back to just sheer hate and anger. And it definitely comes across on the album."

Davis is convinced KORN fans will be shocked, particularly with the album's second track, "Break Some Off", which he called "brutal."

"It's the heaviest KORN song we've ever done," he said. "It's about me losing it. You ever get in a situation where some things aren't going your way and you want to just lose your mind, but you can't? You're trying to maintain yourself, but it's just screwing with you and you're doing everything to keep it back? That's what that song is about."

KORN and LIMP BIZKIT are co-headlining the 12-date Back 2 Basics Tour, which kicks off Monday (November 10). Afterwards, Davis and Co. will play some holiday shows in November and December before heading overseas next year.

"We're doing a world tour this time, so we're going to places we haven't been to in a long time," Davis said. "We're going to Japan, Hong Kong, Jakarta [Indonesia], Manila [Philippines], Australia, New Zealand, and doing all that, then coming back and we're gonna do our first headlining arena tour in probably March."

CIRCLE II CIRCLE EX-ES AIR THEIR VIEWS

(Press Release) The following statement is the official position on the resignation of the (5) former members of CIRCLE II CIRCLE:

As we approached the upcoming tour with Saxon and Doro, there were many financial and logistical issues that needed to be discussed and finalized. We (5) attempted to have a business meeting with ZAK STEVENS and management. Our request was denied. After learning that the entire band was to be replaced after the tour was completed, it became apparent to all of us that management had decided that our concerns were of no concern to them. There were many issues which plagued the planning of the tour. The band was simply tired of the general lack of respect that we were receiving from “C2C Inc.”.

It was a very tough decision for all of us. We have given 1000% to the success of this band and could no longer accept managements business practices.

We would like to thank the fans for their incredible support. We always looked forward to meeting new faces at each show. That is one of the things that we will miss. But rest assured, we will see you all again very soon!

Kevin Rothney, Shane French, Matt Laporte, Christopher Kinder, and John Zahner

Meanwhile, Circel II Circle will continue on with a new lineup to b announced, but including vocalist Zak Stevens, fullfilling their duties to play European December dates with Saxon and Doro...

ANGELS APPEAR AGAIN?

(Melodicrock.com) RUDY SARZO has been speaking with the group ANGEL and is likely to rejoin the band after some twenty-three years of absence. Sarzo was a member of Angel prior to being in both Quiet Riot and Ozzy Osbourne. It appears that drummer Frankie Banali's refusal to pursue a musical situation that was to include guitarist Reb Beach, vocalist Joe Lynn Turner as well as Sarzo has prompted the former Whitesnake/Ozzy Osbourne/Quiet Riot bassist to pursue other avenues. Meanwhile, HARDLINE's keyboardist Michael T. Ross has joined Angel, replacing Greg Guffria. Although Michael is still working closely with Johnny Gioeli in Hardline and Accomplice, Michael has made time to join Angel and just completed several dates in California. They are in discussions to record a new Angel record and are playing the Bang Your Head Festival in Germany in 2004. For more information go to www.michaeltross.com

BLACK DAHLIA MURDER updates from Brian and Dave - "We are really glad to have Trevor and Dave back in the band. It's great to be able to work out your differences and get back to doing what we love to do, jammin'. Since we are home we have been taking the opportunity to start writing material for a new album. So far we haven't worked on any lyrics, but we've gotten lots of music down. So far the style is the same as Unhallowed. We haven't made any crazy changes yet. We are ready to go out on tour with Himsa, it's going to be awesome and we are all excited to be playing the New Jersey Metal Fest next weekend." - Brian Eschbach

"After everything that has happened in the last few months, I was probably the last one to expect thatTrevor and I would be rejoining the Black Dahlia Murder. But after about a month or so of talking and working through the personal differences, we decided we would be fools to stay away any longer. So far, we've been focusing on getting ready for our upcoming tours and have been working on the songs for the next full length (which are coming together fast and are proving to be some of our best to date). It feels awesome to be working these guys again. They're some of the best musicians I know and it's an honor to be back. Look for us on the road over the next few months. If you have seen us before, you owe it yourself to check out the new and improved tBDM." Dave Lock

UNEARTH update from the road - "This tour is honestly has been just like a big group of friends rollin' around drinking beer and hanging out. It's like a bitchin' kegger party! Every night has been so amazing. We are the opening band and the kids are really coming out and supporting us. We have been getting a great response everywhere we've been and the energy from the crowd has carried from start to finish at each show. We are so happy to be on this tour. We always loved watching Headbanger's Ball and thought how cool it would be to be on the show if it even came back, and now we are playing on the tour. It's just truly amazing! After this tour we will be going straight into the studio to start pre production for our next album. We've got about 8 or 10 songs now and we plan on doing maybe 15 totally. We might go out a play some local shows just to test out our new material and see how our fan respond." Ken - Guitars

MTV News.com review from Headbangers Ball tour - Unearth set the tone for the evening with their machine-gun rhythms and hardcore intensity. The bruising tempo changes of "Endless" and the stomping thunder of the new "Blood Lust of the Human Condition" marked their set. "No apologies. It's the heaviest song we've ever done," said Unearth lead vocalist Trevor Phipps of "Blood Lust."
**Unearth will be playing the New Jersey Metal & Hardcore Fest on Saturday, November 15.
New album due out 2004... more information soon to come.

DEADSOIL SIGNED WITH LIFEFORCE RECORDS - We are very proud to announce that DEADSOIL (www.deadsoil.net) have recently signed a two album deal with LIFEFORCE RECORDS.We are glad to welcome the band as part of the Lifeforce-Family.Right now the band is concentrating concentrating on writing new material for their first full length album they will record may 2004 as it looks. Deadsoil will most likey head into Soundlab Studios, Sweden.

Deadsoil was founded in late 2002 by Boris Pracht and Christian Bass, right after Copykill called it quits and Christian decided to part ways with his long time fellows in Night in Gales. It was a clear thing that both were into the idea of starting a new band, combining their musical skills to create something fresh and brutal. Joined by Jan Olejnik on 2nd guitar and Stefan Eutebach, formerly bass-player of Six Reasons To Kill, they started rehearsing as a more or less full functional band... what still was missing was an able and dedicated singer to take over the vocal duties

So Marcel Stroeter, formerly singer of Viersens hardcore outfit Drift, had been called up with the result that the band gained the missing part - Deadsoil was finally born, ready to stomp right through your heads and hearts!

Mixing diverse styles inbetween metal and hardcore with the only claim to chrush everything on their way, their music could be described as devastating music, beyond the limits of any genre, connecting the musical skills of hookline-loaden and precise metal with the aggressive instincts of the tough side of hardcore, in order to take hardcore and metal to another level.

Not even three months after the first rehearsal took place, Deadsoil was ready to be released to the outside world. Since playing their first show in February 2003, the band proofed their live qualities as well as their musical skills in a remarkable number of shows, being on tour with acts like Poison The Well or as support for bands as Hatebreed, The Haunted, Dew-Scented, Darkest Hour and countless other bands. Besides Germany, Deadsoil was playing/will play in countries as Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland and Spain. And all that with just a two song pre-recording Demo under their belt, which they sold at their shows.

In June 2003, Deadsoil released their debut MCD entitled Forever The Enemy on Poisonfree.com Records, containing 5 songs and wrapped in a beautiful artwork, this release comes as a digipack and on clear and limited 10 inch vinyl. The reactions have been more then overwhelming!!

In the meantime Marcel felt the decision to better stop playing in the band due to a permanent lack of time. Friedrich Weber is the new man behind the microphone and his vocal-variety turned out to be a great enrichment for the band.

PLEASE VOTE FOR DEADSOIL - As some of you might have heard or read already, Deadsoil are on the votinglist for RIOTFEST (www.riotfest.net) and we need your help! So please click the following link and vote for us www.riotfest.net/contest  - no need to log in or register! It doesn't even take you 30 seconds and you would help us a lot!! Every vote counts!! The fight of the Holy Inquisition against "Germany's most Satanic Metal act" ANCIENT CEREMONY continues. After the band's performance at Summerbreeze festival had been forbidden due to the "blasphemy scandal" vocalist and founder Chris now right at Halloween received a letter from church's lawyers. In it they say that if he doesn't take off some pictures which would document "a despise of the catholic church" from ANCIENT CEREMONY's official website a fine of 10.000 EUR had to be paid. Currently the band's lawyer is checking the legal situation. To be continued...

The original letter sent by church's lawyer's (all in German language) can be read here:

ZAKK GETS IT BACK
(Press Release) In the year 2000, ZAKK WYLDE's famous Bullseye Les Paul was lost. Traveling from Dallas to Houston, the band (Black Label Society) was pulled over due to the trucks back doors being open. Upon investigating the trucks contents, two guitars were found missing. One was a replica that was recovered on July 4th by an observant woman traveling behind the truck. A reward was posted for the beloved "Grail" to no avail.

As of today, November 17th, 2003 - "The Grail" has returned home. A medical technician from Dallas area made the move. Jerry Weisenger emailed long time friend and Attorney Randy Canis (original webmaster for Zakk) and told him of "The Grail's" travels. Apparently the guitar made it to a pawn shop in Dallas. It was purchased just to be, once again, sold back to another pawn shop. Jerry Weisengers friend, who pawned the guitar, was not able to pay the price to retrieve it, so Jerry helped out and paid for it. The friend never came by with the money so Jerry decided to keep it. The guitar was stored for 7 months before he pulled it out to clean it. He pulled the pick-ups out and saw ZW engraved into the backs of them. He knew, what he had always suspected, that this is Zakk Wylde's guitar. The story is amazing and Zakk is currently celebrating its return. For a full detailed account of this tale, go to www.zakkwylde.com.

TALES FROM THE PIT
(Press Release) San Francisco-based Thrash video documentarians, METALLIAN PRODUCTIONS has recently completed and released TALES FROM THE PIT #5, a nearly 3 hour audio and visual journey into the world of true Heavy Metal.

"Since we're into this kind of music, we try to make a program that we'd like to see ourselves. We're not trendy or motivated by money; we don't care what's popular. We feature bands we love and we try to present them to the best of our ability" - Jerry Allen, Creator-Director

TALES FROM THE PIT #5 took nearly 3 years to complete due to Producer/Director JERRY ALLEN's involvement with other projects during that time, including organizing and documenting on digital video, the cancer benefit for Testament vocalist Chuck Billy - THRASH OF THE TITANS. Metallian Productions documented the entire event and conducted many interviews with the musicians in attendance. 8 cameras and 7 months of editing later and the show is only half done! Unfortunately some agreements were broken and the fate of THRASH OF THE TITANS being released on DVD is in indefinite limbo until all parties can reach a new agreement. Producer/Director-Jerry Allen put the video on the shelf in the meantime and focused on completing TFTP#5. TALES FROM THE PIT #5 features a sneak preview- retrospect of the THRASH OF THE TITANS event, including interviews and music clips with the people who played and the people who made it happen.

Also featured on TFTP#5 is a moving tribute to original Exodus vocalist, former TFTP host and Jerry's good friend - PAUL BALOFF. The tribute features never seen before rare footage and features commentary by Paul's friends and fans.

TALES FROM THE PIT #5 is hosted by legendary Bay Area front-men, the maniacal SEAN KILLIAN of VIO-LENCE and the charismatic MARK OSEGUEDA of DEATH ANGEL.

Also featured on TFTP #5 are interviews, music clips and rarities with IRON MAIDEN, HALFORD, DEATH ANGEL, DIO, S.O.D., MOTORHEAD, THE HAUNTED, CANNIBAL CORPSE, QUEENSRYCHE, KREATOR, DESTRUCTION, IN FLAMES, MORBID ANGEL, DEICIDE, WITCHERY, NUCLEAR ASSAULT, HORROR FILM LEGEND - TOM SAVINI, MISTRESS PERSPHONE AND THE HILARIOUS BOONE BROTHERS. Currently the program is only available on VHS but Metallian Productions plan to release a DVD in the near future.

Debuting in 1989, TALES FROM THE PIT video magazine has been dedicated to promoting Traditional, Thrash and Death Metal music and has received many rave reviews and endorsements by the metal press and the bands featured on the program. The video went on hiatus during the mid-late 90s due to the rise of Nu metal/Mallcore/Rapcore/Alternative and the downfall of Thrash Metal. In 1999 Metallian Productions released THE BEST OF TALES FROM THE PIT hosted by PAUL BALOFF, and consisted of classic interviews from the past and many new interviews, including an in-depth studio experience with Testament and Dave Lombardo while they were recording the classic THE GATHERING album. Fortunately the metal scene experienced resurgence, and Metallian Productions decided more TALES FROM THE PIT videos were what people wanted to see and the fans that are into the bands that TFTP covers can't seem to get enough.

In the past, TFTP was shot using home equipment and had a very underground vibe about it. With issue #5, the vibe is still there but the program was filmed and edited with state of the art digital cameras and edited with the latest in digital technology.

"These programs are labors of love and not commercial ventures. We certainly don't do it for the money because we don't make a lot of money. Ha ha! We do this because we want to see true metal get stronger and if we can make a difference in our own humble way, then so be it". - Jerry Allen, Producer/Director. www.talesfromthepit.com

27 Press-release : CONTROL DENIED CD
As of today we are announcing a release on CD by Chuck Schuldiner's CONTROL DENIED.

It will feature incomplete, unfinished recordings which were meant for the new album, which unfortunately was never finished, at least up until the moment of this press-statement.

We have requested to get the Master tapes on these recordings, but Chuck's family do not wish to communicate or talk with us anymore, let alone send us the Master tapes (which are 75% finished) that should have been with us long ago.

Probably there will be a lot of talk and discussions appearing, which we can understand obviously, but a fact is that we signed a contract with Chuck that he was very happy about, paid the full advance in 2000, have been asking for a solution during 2002 and 2003, but in all honesty we never really got a reply.

The only honest and valid reason why the "real" album by CONTROL DENIED is still not released is very simple; the legal heritors of Chuck (= his family) refuse to do anything concerning this release, if they will claim differently it is time for them to prove us wrong, we have been waiting for 18 months. I think they should stop fooling around with the record-label and the fans, the time to act in honesty is now or never !!! We are not lying, not cheating and in no way disrespectful, if someone disagrees he will need to prove us wrong, it is in the hands of Chuck's family.

Possible release date is: spring 2004.

Now let us see on a few topics guided by Jane Schuldiner's statement (from September 7th 2003) on the website EMPTY WORDS, because I have many questions on this. (check: www.emptywords.org/NEWS.htm), the quotes are direct from Jane Schuldiner.

"Since I was attacked by Guido through his attorneys..."

: this is very strange, which attorney attacked the Schuldiners before September ??? Not ours.

"I am surprised he would make false comments of his own."

: which ones ??? Details please, support music, not rumours !!!

"Chuck's sister and I received... record those messages."

: I indeed had the chance to speak with Jane a lot of times (during the first half of 2002), and it were nice conversations, with Bethan I only spoke three times, with a total time of 30 minutes I think. The third conversation Bethan took the phone and said I should never call again. Until today I still do not know why ??? Can anyone tell me ???

"After saying the same thing... what that position is and why."

in all honesty I do not know what their position is on Chuck's work. They never explained this to me, so what is the position of the Schuldiner family and what does Chuck's will actually say

"There is no need for any more contact with Guido, that is why we each have attorneys."

: we were asking for months for a legal contact on these matters, and we never until November 17th received anything ever from an attorney related to the Schuldiners. After announcing to spread this press-release we received a letter from their attorney within days. Need I say more ?

"We wanted as much... last promises to Chuck to fulfil."

: what are those promises, no one ever told me what Chuck said in his testament or his will ??? Easy to claim you are fulfilling Chuck's last promises, but no one knows what these look like, right ? And releasing the album a.s.a.p must be a joke, since the family received the Master tapes from Jim Morris already in December 2001 and since then they have not even called the studio once, nor did any of the other musicians involved ever got an invitation to finish the album.

Six quotes that I would like to see answered in a justified/honest way, not claiming something without any proof, making us look like the unwilling party in this conflict.

Guido Heijnens

On behalf of a very disappointed record-label called HAMMERHEART RECORDS.

Týr in Iceland - nov. 2003
Last weekend, 21.-23. nov. Týr were on tour in Iceland. Týr were glad to be back in Iceland, were Ormurin Langi from How Far To Asgaard was a total hit last year, and Týr became worldfamous in Iceland. This time, Týr were touring with the swedish group Freak Kitchen, giving three concerts, Grand Rokk – Reykjavík, Hvíta Húsiđ – Selfoss and in Tjarnarbió – Reykjavík.
The concerts were tremendous, much headbanging and Icelanders could sing along to Ólavur Riddararós, Regin Smiđ and Ormurin Langi. The Freak Kitchen show was a true experience, professional and great show. Mattias Eklundh is a fascinating guitarist and has been working with the guitar-guru Steve Vai, and that is as good as it gets in the guitarworld.
Freak Kitchen and Týr were interviewed by Popp Tíví on the show 7níu13 (it will be shown on Thursday Nov. 27.), and Radio Reykjavík, and you can read about the concerts in Morgunblađiđ by Arnar Eggert and in Sánd Magazine by Jens Guđ. The Týr & Freak Kitchen tour was arranged by Thorsteinn Kolbeinsson of Restingmind Productions and Rás 2.
Týr’s tour in Iceland is not finished yet, on the 11th of december, right after Týr return from Russia, Týr are invited to play in Nasa, Reykjavik. A 5 hour concert with 12 bands and the profit goes to a musicians house with rehearsal facilities for bands in Reykjavík. 30 Yesterday night two of the classic british rockbands visited Denmark. Uriah Heep and Deep Purple gave concert at the Scandinavian Congress Centre in the heart of Aarhus in front of an audience counting thousands of people. The concerts were in every way perfect - the bands, the music, the audience, the sound and the light. Ian Gillan several times stated that, him and the rest of the band, was very pleased with the good response the audience gave them. And the audience certainly had a good time, listening to a wide range of claccic rockhits, from two of the best british rockbands ever. Metal Coven saw the concert, and the pics we took are finally online - see Uriah Heep or Deep Purple.
