W.A.S.P. Strikes
Back on June 11th With Dying For The World on Sanctuary/Metal-Is
Records
On June 11th, shock rock innovators W.A.S.P. will release their most inspired effort to date. On the heals of 2001's critically acclaimed Unholy Terror (heralded as an "excuse to flay your carcass more ruthlessly than anyone else can" by L.A. Weekly and "hard, nasty and loud" by Hit Parader Magazine), Blackie Lawless and company are unleashing a 10-track demonstration of inspiration through aggression entitled With Dying For The World. With a lineup that currently consists of vocalist/guitarist/ringleader Blackie Lawless, longtime contributing drummer Frankie Banali and bassist Mike Duda, and newcomer Darrell Roberts (who joined the band just prior to the Unholy Terror U.S. Tour), With Dying For The World was recorded and mixed at Blackie's studio in Los Angeles. The album was actually inspired by letters received from troops who fought in the Gulf War. Blackie explains: "Our motivation for this record was prefaced by letters sent to us from the tank divisions during the Gulf War, where the troops would actually go into battle blaring "Fuck Like A Beast" and "Wild Child." After the events on 9/11, we felt we would give them a fresh batch; in essence, we've literally made an album to go kill people by." Consisting of songs entitled "Shadow Man," "Hell For Eternity," "Trail Of Tears," "Rubberman," "My Wicked Heart," "Stone Cold Killers," "Hallowed Ground," "Hallowed Ground #5 (acoustic)," "Black Bone Torso," and "Revengeance," With Dying For The World emphasizes a method of dealing with anger. A native of Staten Island, Blackie elaborates: "This problem isn't going to go away; we will have to deal with the Middle East eventually. There is no longer an 'if', it's 'when'!" Should this bold statement of an album's message be misconstrued and be accused of corrupting America's youth, W.A.S.P. are no stranger to defending their rights as entertainers. Their music was under public scrutiny and placed on the Parents Music Resource Center's "Filthy 15" list in the mid 80's for containing "questionable lyrical content." VH-1 is premiering a new movie based on the subject on April 21st called Warning: Parental Advisory. W.A.S.P. plan to celebrate the release of With Dying For The World with a summer tour, once again blatantly displaying their voracious stage show! With Dying For The World will be released on June 11th through Sanctuary/Metal-Is.

WICKED WORLD PRESS RELEASE - FOR IMMEDIATE ATTENTION MATT ZANE AND DECEMBER WOLVES - A MATCH MADE IN HELL? Earache Records has just upped the ante on extremity by commissioning legendary metalhead porn king Matt Zane to direct the new December Wolves video. Zane, who has made a name for himself across the globe with such films as "Backstage Sluts" and "Cherry Poppers," will be directing a clip for the song "Porn Again Christian", a track from December Wolves' upcoming album, Blasterpiece Theatre. Zane had this to say about the video: "Words can not define the perversity of this video. One is unable to conceive of the horrid images that I have created for this song. All other attempts made by artists to disturb the viewer pale in comparison. So sick you feel guilty for watching it." December Wolves guitarist Brian O'Blivion had this to say about the Zane project: "When we heard the idea about a video, our first thought was no, but when Earache suggested it would be a video for "Porn Again Christian" involving depraved XXX filth created by porn legend Matt Zane, we quickly changed our minds. Fucking genius!" The video, guaranteed to be banned by MTV, will be included on Earache's second low-price compilation DVD, i-Crusher 2, set for release in summer 2002. December Wolves' new album, Blasterpiece Theatre, hits stores May 28.

As a result of the accident, Soilent Green are effectively off GWAR's "Blood Drive 2002" tour and will spend time at home recouperating. As more details are released regarding the
circumstances of Alice In Chains frontman Layne Staley's unfortunate death,
it seems more and more likely that the cause of death was related to his
much publicized struggle with heroin addiction. According to recent
Associated Press reports, heroin related drug paraphernalia was found around
his body and he had passed away around two weeks ago, only to recently be
discovered after worried relatives called the police to check on the
residence. However, despite such findings an official cause of death has yet
to be determined and could take up to a few weeks depending on how long the
tests conducted by the coroner take. In the meantime, various musicians
including the remaining members of Alice In Chains themselves have commented
on the loss, for the full article check
