| 03 | ICED EARTH
REISSUES, TRIBUTE: (Press Release) With re-mixed
& re-mastered versions of ICED EARTH's Iced Earth, , Night Of The Storm
Rider, and Burnt Offerings scheduled for re-release with all new artwork
on October 1st, the history of ICED EARTH--one of the prides of the metal
underground--will be recirculated. As with everything else in the natural
world, everything has its roots. In the upcoming Tribute To The Gods album
(due out on November 12th), founding member, songwriter and guitarist Jon
Schaffer shares some gems in his ticket stub collection and digs a bit
deeper to reveal his very personal stories surrounding the bands he grew
up listening to. For example:
"Iron Maiden came through Fort Wayne supporting Number Of The Beast opening for .38 Special, but I was grounded. You won't believe how many cool concerts I missed because I was grounded [laughs]. The next year [1983] with Piece Of Mind, they came through and headlined in Fort Wayne, and that's the ticket stub fans will see in the liner notes. School was already out for summer and whatever it was me and my buddies were doing, we left early and walked to the venue, The Fort Wayne Coliseum, from our neighborhood. That was quite a hike. We left at 11 in the morning. The crew guys were outside taking a break, they were passing around a bottle of Jack Daniels and playing frisbee. We were hanging out talking to them, doing a couple of shots of whiskey trying to be cool, and then I remember the band pulling up in their bus a few hours later. They all got off the bus and I was having a hard time speaking. At that point, I was just this gigantic fan, of Steve Harris especially, because with Number Of The Beast, it just intrigued me... Who is writing this shit? As I was reading the lyrics and the liner notes and seeing Harris everywhere, I was like, 'This guy is the fuckin' MAN.' So when it came time to try to speak to him, I just couldn't. I had this homemade shirt on, where I had taken my mom's red fingernail polish and had drawn the Killers logo dripping in blood on this white t-shirt, and I think I said something like, 'Can you sign my Killers... I mean, my shirt?' I felt like an idiot. I was shaking. It was a big deal to me, getting to talk to him for just a few seconds, shake his hand, get his autograph... it's something you hold onto forever. I was down in the 2nd or 3rd row that night, and I was completely, absolutely mesmerized by him, the way he played and his intensity. I've never been the same since." The tracklisting for Tribute To The Gods is: 01. Creatures Of The Night (KISS)

| 05 | WINGER
"BEACHED"?!: In a recent interview , WINGER
guitarist REB BEACH talked about how the Winger name has been tarnished,
"It's no secret that Winger has had the worst name in rock for the last 10
years. All the people that I meet, especially musicians, have only great
things to say about Winger. I was in Dokken for four years. Do you know
how many times I've heard "man, it's so cool you're in Dokken because Kip
Winger was a fag; dude, that band was so gay." You know, and they only
know "Seventeen" and "Miles Away." The thing that I love is that nobody
can play "Seventeen." I've never seen a guitar player, with the exception
of Andy Timmons, do it correctly. It definitely has a great groove. I've
always had that lick, and Kip's the one that told me it was a song.
Beavis and Butthead… That kid in the Winger t-shirt is in almost every episode. Metallica, in their biggest video they ever had, showed throwing darts at Kip Winger - and they showed it in their live show. You know, 50,000 people every night laughed when they saw it!" |

| 05 | NEIL YOUNG
DVD REISSUE: (Press Release)
Singer/songwriter/guitarist NEIL YOUNG is one of the most important
visionaries rock 'n' roll has ever produced. With his blissfully ragged
hard-rock band Crazy Horse, he created the 1979 masterpiece 'Rust Never
Sleeps.' A concert film of the same title was released that year as well.
The 116-minute 'Rust Never
Sleeps' -- directed by Young under the pseudonym Bernard Shakey -- earned
a limited theatrical release and was also available briefly on home video,
but it makes its long-awaited DVD debut via the Sanctuary Records Group on
September 24, 2002. DVD bonus extras include the
This concert was filmed on October 22, 1978, at the Cow Palace in San Francisco, CA. In 1997, Rolling Stone named this concert as one of the Top 10 Live Shows in the history of rock 'n' roll. The timeless album 'Rust Never Sleeps' is often hailed by critics as one of the greatest ever made. In 1987, it ranked No. 66 in Rolling Stone's Top 100 Albums of the Last 20 Years poll. The songs Young performed included a blend of solo acoustic numbers and ferocious electric rave-ups with Crazy Horse -- guitarist Frank "Poncho" Sampedro, bass guitarist Billy Talbot and drummer Ralph Molina. The 'Rust Never Sleeps' set list comprised songs from the album as well as many of Young's greatest hits: "Sugar Mountain," "I Am a Child," "Comes a Time," "After the Gold Rush," "Thrasher," "My My, Hey Hey (Out of the Blue)," "When You Dance I Can Really Love," "The Loner," "Welfare Mothers," "The Needle and the Damage Done," "Lotta Love," "Sedan Delivery," "Powderfinger," "Cortez the Killer," "Cinnamon Girl," "Like a Hurricane," "Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black)" and "Tonight's the Night." Visually speaking, the 'Rust Never Sleeps' tour had some unusually distinctive traits. Abnormally large reproductions of items like amplifiers and microphones were used as stage props, and they were set up by hooded figures with glowing eyes that resembled the Jawas in "Star Wars." Young christened them "roadeyes," a playful variation of "roadies" of course. The 'Rust Never Sleeps' concert DVD captures one of the geniuses of popular music at arguably the peak of his creativity. The Cow Palace audience was fortunate enough to witness rock 'n' roll history live, but thankfully the concert was filmed to preserve the vitality of Young's music forever. |

BLACK 'N' BLUE DVD UPDATE: (Press Release) BLACK SABBATH and BLUE OYSTER CULT were two of the biggest hard-rock titans of the 1970s, and an ingenious idea was conceived to have them join forces on a co-headlining tour. They hit the road together in 1980, and the result was the concert film 'Black & Blue.' 'Black & Blue' will make its eagerly awaited North American DVD debut when Classic Pictures releases it on October 8, 2002. In fact, 'Black & Blue' has never been issued on home video at all until now. This 80-minute cult film is such a rarity that it has even managed to avoid being widely bootlegged. More than 1.5 million people saw this 1980 tour, so it made sense to capture it on film. 'Black & Blue' was produced by George Harrison; the legendary Beatles guitarist had moved into the film production business by the late 1970s. The songs performed by Black Sabbath on 'Black & Blue' are: "War Pigs," "N.I.B.," "Iron Man," "Paranoid," "Die Young," "Neon Knights" and "Heaven and Hell." The Blue Oyster Cult selections included are: "Cities on Flame With Rock & Roll," "Dr. Music," "The Marshall Plan," "Divine Wind," "Godzilla," the Steppenwolf cover "Born to Be Wild" and the Doors cover "Roadhouse Blues." DVD bonus extras will include a new interview with Ronnie James Dio, biographies, discographies and a reproduction of the original movie poster. Black Sabbath's lineup of
vocalist Ronnie James Dio, guitarist Tony Iommi, bass guitarist Geezer
Butler and drummer Vinnie Appice was touring to promote the release of
'Heaven and Hell,' the first album since Dio had replaced Ozzy Osbourne.
Dio had faced the unenviable task of replacing Osbourne, but the Rainbow
veteran brought an entirely new sonic dimension to the band with his
fearsome voice and songwriting skills. Appice replaced original drummer
Bill Ward, who'd recorded 'Heaven and Hell' but soon left due to health
reasons and his unhappiness about Osbourne's departure. 'Heaven and Hell'
is deservedly considered one of Black Sabbath's best albums -- regardless
of lineups -- and its stature as one of heavy metal's greatest albums ever
increases with time. The Dio/Iommi/Butler/Appice version of Black Sabbath
would go on to record 1981's underrated 'Mob Rules,' 1982's double live
'Live Blue Oyster Cult was in the
middle of its creative and commercial peak in 1980. The band was on
concert trail supporting the new album 'Cultosaurus Erectus.'
Vocalist/lead guitarist Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser, vocalist/rhythm
guitarist Eric Bloom, keyboardist/guitarist Allen Lanier, bass guitarist
Joe Bouchard and drummer Albert Bouchard had combined forces to become one
of the precious few hard rock/heavy metal bands to ever earn critical
acclaim from the mainstream music press. Ever since its self-titled 1972
debut, Blue Oyster Cult was praised as "the thinking man's heavy metal
band." BOC's "story" songs combined elements of horror, science fiction,
fantasy, violence, love, and even humor. The 1976 album 'Agents of
Fortune' spawned the huge hit "(Don't Fear) The Reaper," a simultaneously
haunting and Black Sabbath and Blue Oyster Cult pack such a fierce wallop on 'Black & Blue' that viewers will be left just that -- black and blue. |

Maiden's career went on from one high to another - it really was a
rollercoaster ride! I think they capture the essence of what the band was
and still is all about: pure, raw energy, great musicianship and an
in-your-face attitude. I've seen the casket and it looks fantastic. This
is The set will be presented in a unique 270x190x60 mm limited edition silver Eddie embossed casket. Alongside the music, fans will find a crystal Eddie Head shot glass and an individually numbered Pete Frame family tree on parchment scroll, detailing the complete Iron Maiden history and rolled in a specially designed Eddie ring! Each of the three double CD's have full colour 24 page booklets, two with new Eddie artwork with previously unseen photos of the various line ups; and one based on the original classic '82 tour programme. The first of the double CD's is
entitled BBC ARCHIVES and includes music recorded between 1979 and 1988
for the BBC's Friday Rock Show. Accompanied by notes from the show's long
time producer, Tony Wilson, it features Maiden fronted by Paul Di'Anno and
their performances at a special Rock Show studio session in October 1979
as the band were breaking onto the scene, and at 1980's Reading Festival
where they appeared as Special Guests to UFO. Also
Iron Maiden's 1982 "Beast On The Road" tour has taken on a mythical quality among Metal fans as the tour and the album which really put Maiden at the forefront of Rock and Metal worldwide. The historical show from the Hammersmith Odeon has been specially mixed and co-produced for the casket by Steve Harris and the band's long serving sound engineer Doug Hall. This double CD, BEAST OVER HAMMERSMITH clearly illustrates how remarkable and ground breaking the tour was in support of the all time classic album, The Number Of The Beast. The accompanying inlay booklet is a complete recreation of the 'Beast On The Road' tour program and lists all the world tour dates and includes notes from the band written at that time. The third double CD in the set,
BEST OF THE B'SIDES, is accompanied with liner notes written by Iron
Maiden's manager Rod Smallwood to guide you through every track. In many
ways it is a collection that not only reveals much about the band as
individuals and the inherent character of the band, but also provides a
real insight into who and where their influences came
For the fans among you who buy both singles and albums, you will all be aware that Maiden don't simply stick on another mix of the same single or another album track for their B Sides, but they will always try and come up with something of real quality, and that is both new and different. With this in mind, the band have compiled what they consider to be the BEST OF THE B'SIDES over the years which include all the studio recordings, some of the live recordings (including cover version of songs from their heroes) as well as the occasional humorous, sideways look at themselves and those that have worked with the band. In full, the track listing of EDDIE'S ARCHIVE is as follows - CD 1 - BBC ARCHIVE Disc 1 Disc 2 - Friday Rock Show
Session 1979 Reading Festival 1980 CD2 - BEAST OVER HAMMERSMITH Disc 1 Disc 2 Murders In The Rue
Morgue Transylvania CD3 - BEST OF THE B'SIDES Disc 1 Disc 2 Burning Ambition
All In Your Mind Iron Maiden will shortly reconvene to start writing and preparing for their next studio album for Columbia Records. Simultaneously, in recognition of the band's huge and everlasting popularity, Columbia is to release a TV advertised Greatest Hits album entitled EDWARD THE GREAT which will feature 16 of their biggest hits. "We appreciate that the majority
of our loyal fans will already have all these tracks, but hope like us,
they will get a great kick from seeing Iron Maiden TV ads blasting across
the nations homes!" says Rod Smallwood. "This Greatest Hits album is aimed
at those who need to be initiated into the world of Iron Maiden and Metal,
and to make sure everyone clearly understands that 'EDDIE'S ARCHIVE' is
for the fans, we have requested that both releases are
EDWARD THE GREAT hits run as follows: Run To The Hills The Clairvoyant

of the successful live DVD and CD from his band RING OF FIRE, vocalist
MARK BOALS is set to release his most diverse and creative solo album yet

Bass guitar and additional rhythm guitar duties were handled by Boals himself. The album features thirteen tracks (including a bonus track for the Japanese pressing), which will be previewed first at the official Mark Boals site (www.markboals.com) in the weeks to come. | 16 | JASON BONHAM IS BACK WITH HEALING SIXES: (Press Release) HEALING SIXES (featuring JASON BONHAM on drums) is putting together a short 4-6 week club tour of the U.S. in preparation for their "Enormosound" album release on Corazong Records. Corazong Records is based out of the Netherlands and plans on releasing the album in Europe & Canada sometime in October 2002 with a U.S. release to be determined. The "6's" are focusing on venues east of the Mississippi starting October 1st and ending the middle of November in Toronto, Canada. Doug Henthorn (Singer/Songwriter/Guitar Player) of "Healing Sixes" explains how Jason Bonham got involved with the band, "We'd lined up a string of East coast dates opening for Jason's old band back in 99'. Soon enough, Jason was consistently showing up early to check out the show. We hit it off right away with him and before long we'd all end up out and about at the end of each night. One night, Jason, Eric, Chaz, and I were at an after hours club in St. Louis when the band there asked us if we wanted to sit in. So we got up as a three-piece band, with me singing, and did an impromptu version of "Foxy Lady". I think we all knew it was just the beginning. Jason and I kept in contact after the tour and by Christmas of that year he'd told me he wanted in. He flew over for another jam and it was undeniable. The combination was monsterous." SAB VIDS HIT DVD: (Press
Release) Two 'BLACK SABBATH STORY' volumes will be released on VHS and DVD
September 24th on Sanctuary.
VOLUME 1 (1970-1978) AND VOLUME 2 (1978-1992) EXAMINE THE TURBULENT HISTORY OF THE GROUNDBREAKING BAND; BOTH TITLES INCLUDE BONUS FEATURES NOT FOUND ON ORIGINAL VHS VERSIONS Black Sabbath pioneered true heavy metal, and a fascinating look into the British band's turbulent history is covered on two individual DVD and VHS releases, 'The Black Sabbath Story: Volume One' and 'The Black Sabbath Story: Volume Two,' coming from Sanctuary Records on September 24, 2002. Each DVD and VHS is sold separately. Each volume includes rare concert and television footage, music videos, in-depth interviews and much more. These titles are being released on DVD for the first time, and they include extras not present on the original VHS versions. They have been reformatted for DVD in the 16:9 letterbox ratio, and the audio has been remastered for both Dolby Digital 5.1 and stereo sound. Bonus features on both titles include animated menus, an album gallery and band history. 'The Black Sabbath Story: Volume One' covers 1970 to 1978, when the original lineup of vocalist Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi, bass guitarist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward turned rock music upside down with its blistering originality. Albums like 'Black Sabbath,' 'Paranoid,' 'Master of Reality' and 'Volume 4' are still cited as metal milestones 30 years after their release by successive generations of rock fans. Osbourne, Iommi, Butler and Ward addressed the bleaker sides of life in their songs, and did so on a volcanic musical foundation. This 85-minute DVD includes 10 songs: "N.I.B.," "Paranoid," "War Pigs," "Children of the Grave," "Snowblind," "Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath," "Symptom of the Universe," "It's Alright," "Rock 'N Roll Doctor" and "Never Say Die." One special feature is an in-depth interview with Black Sabbath's original manager, Jim Simpson, who describes the band's development. 'The Black Sabbath Story: Volume Two' picks up in 1978 prior to Osbourne's departure and traces the strange periods of all-star, revolving-door lineups up through 1992 during which Iommi was often the only remaining original member. After Osbourne left, he was replaced by Rainbow vocalist Ronnie James Dio for a brief, turbulent but artistically rewarding period which yielded 1980's brilliant 'Heaven and Hell.' Other vocalists included Deep Purple's Ian Gillan and Glenn Hughes, and Tony Martin. Short-lived drummers included Vinny Appice, Electric Light Orchestra's Bev Bevan, the late Cozy Powell and future Kiss member Eric Singer. The DVD ends with the reunion of Dio, Iommi, Butler and Appice for 1992's 'Dehumanizer.' The 10 songs on the 72-minute second volume are: "Hard Road," "Die Young," "Neon Knights," "Trashed," "Zero the Hero," "No Stranger to Love," "The Shining," "Headless Cross," "Feels Good to Me" and "TV Crimes." A bonus interview with Black Sabbath expert Hugh Gilmour is part of this DVD. 'The Black Sabbath Story: Volume One' and 'The Black Sabbath Story: Volume Two' are valuable historical documents that chronicle the career of one of the most innovative rock bands in history. |

ROCK TO THE RESCUE BENEFIT FOR
VICTIMS OF SEPTEMBER 11TH DISASTER: (Press Release)
(9-9-02 - Universal City) - "We had such a good time last year that we thought we'd do it again this year," says STYX lead singer Tommy Shaw, who conceived the idea for last year's Volunteers For America concerts in Atlanta and Dallas. Rock To The Rescue - which will feature such artists as BAD COMPANY, FOREIGNER, REO Speedwagon, Styx, JACK BLADES, Felix Cavaliere, MARK FARNER, Eddie Money, Sam Moore, Survivor, John Waite and Edgar Winter among others -- will land at the Continental Airlines Arena (The Meadowlands) on Saturday, October 19th and then at the Gund Arena in Cleveland on Sunday, October 20th. Proceeds from the show at the Continental Airlines Arena - which is being produced in association with Metropolitan Entertainment - will benefit the Port Authority Police World Trade Disaster Survivors Fund while the show at the Gund Arena will benefit that fund as well as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Educational Fund. "Last year's concerts raised $550,000 for the Port Authority Police Department and $25,000 to a few families close to our hearts that were affected by the events of 9/11," states Charlie Brusco of TBA Entertainment, the company producing the two Rock To The Rescue benefit concerts. "That was definitely a good start but our mission is to continue the fundraising efforts for the families of the victims of the September 11th tragedy." REO Speedwagon's Kevin Cronin states, "A year has passed since the horrific events of last September 11th and I still cannot fully integrate it into my life's experiences. I have watched the various televised retrospectives and they are so powerfully real that they have a way of overwhelming me. No matter how many times I see those images, there is a part of me that is as shocked and angry and sad as I was a year ago. | 23 | CHERONE AIN'T TALKIN' BOUT LOVE WITH VAN HALEN: (Press Release) In an interview with GARY CHERONE at ClassicRockRevisited.com, he talks about the end of VAN HALEN version 3 along with their sole album, "When it didn’t sell the writing was on the wall. We were on tour and we brought out the old catalog and the majority of the fans did appreciate it but in the end they wanted their Dave. That is what it was. I know for a fact that they did get together after I left and did some songs. I don’t think anything came out of that stuff. I don’t think it worked. Egos and personalities, you know." He also talks about the possibilty of a reunion with his EXTREME bandmates, "We are all very close and I would not rule out an Extreme record down the road. I feel very privileged to think I wrote some great songs with Nuno. Paul Geary manages Godsmack and Tribe of Judah so the family is there it is just that everybody is doing their own thing. Don’t rule it out. In a couple of years, who knows?". The entire interview can be found at: http://www.classicrockrevisited.com/Gary%20Cherone%20Interview.htm | ||||

METAL EDGY: (Press Release)
Amidst speculation and rumor, we finally get an explanation on the METAL
EDGE ROCK FEST blow-up via this PRESS RELEASE:
(Hollywood, CA) - The bands of the Metal Edge Rock Fest 2002 Tour, extend their apologies for their abrupt ending in Tucson, AZ. The tour was scheduled to end on September 14th at the Hollywood Palladium. The promoter cancelled the show, upon learning that MICK BROWN (long-time Dokken drummer) had quit DOKKEN, after playing the Phoenix, AZ show. Discussions commenced on allowing the remaining bands to perform the Hollywood show, but no agreement could be made with the promoter. Dokken had temporarily replaced Mick Brown with bass player Adam Hamilton (LA Guns). Adam proved to play drums as well as the bass at the Tucson, AZ show. This decision was last minute and unexpected by all the bands. All were looking forward to ending a great tour, in the city, where they all started their careers. On behalf of the bands, RATT, WARRANT, FIREHOUSE & LA GUNS, the crew and Production office - we extend our disappointment and apologies - thank you for sticking by us. The decision was beyond our control - we had every intention to Rock Hollywood and say farewell till next year. |
