I’m not sure how many people think heavy metal when Italy is mentioned. Other things certainly comes to my mind, when ever Italy is mentioned. The cuisine and fine arts i.e – not to mention football and the ancient culture.

But Italy is in many other ways worth dealing with – especially when it comes to music. I’m not talking about the classic composers such as Pucchini, Bellini and Spontine. But those artists that are contemporary and with a very modern sound – rock in the heavier end of the scale.

When talking Italian hardrock and heavy metal in general, you’re bound to find out about this 5 piece outfit named Broken Arrow.

Broken Arrow maintain the high level of perfection and great sound out through the entire record. They don’t fail and appear as posers and rockstar wannabees – this is the real deal. They are indeed into the game, and they deserve to be there too.

One song on this album I wish to emphasize is the titlesong “Abyss of Darkness” which is a kind of solemn in its mood, and the song where the amazing vocal of Dave Baduena steps in the foreground the most.

So if you’re into music like Dion, Rainbow, Queensryche and Dream Theater, give Broken Arrow a try. I’m sure you’ll like it as much as I do, and even get to appericiate it a little more, each time you listen to their music.

The band name itself doesent cause a stir, but when you listen to their music……! When I first put their latest release “Abyss of Darkness” on my cdplayer some days ago, I couldn’t help getting quite excited already during the first tune of the album. These guis sure know how to handle their instruments, and the way they do that, is very similar to how Rainbow and Dio sounds like- and Black Sabbath around the “Mob Rules” album which came out back in 81 and immediately became an classic. Look at this comparison as a medal of honor. Its wellearned – that’s for sure.

This is what Broken Arrow is about – classic metal with an edge and nerve, that makes me wanna hear way more from these lads.

The sound of this record is complete and final – no loose ends here. Nothing that should have turned out differently – the album is produced with the outmost perfection, and the band - all the way around, is provided with musicians who are very professional and dedicated to their task.

“Abyss of Darkness” is a highly recommendable album, that I will pick from the recordshelf, whenever I want quality time in front of the speakers.
