As We Fight "Black Nails and Bloody Wrists" |

“Black Nails…………….” is the follow up to the bands self financed demo, produced by Tue Madsen and released back in 2003. The demo generated a lot of well deserved feedback. Not only from the fans, but also the international metal press. After the release As We fight appeared at some of Europe’s best festivals i.e. Hellfire Fest and Fredericia Hardcore Festival. Those festivals and the tremendous feedback from fans and press resulted in a record deal with the leading label in hardcore music Good Life Recordings. So far, the reviews of “Black Nails………….” has been very positive, and the album has sold very well throughout Europe. As We Fight play an extremely energetic kind of hardcore metal. The vocal part immediately made me think of Agnostic Front, but other than that, As We Fight is beyond all comparison with Agnostic Front. As We Fight is way more melodic, and has a whole different atmosphere. As We Fight is not technically advanced or experimental. They play hardcore the way it should be played – simple and very intense. The overall atmosphere on “Black Nails……….” is powerful and somewhat melodic. The whole album is produced pretty well. Tue Madsen, who has also worked with acts like The Haunted, Born from Pain, Mnemic, Raunchy and Mevadio, is the producer on this album. |
And I must say that he has once again done a tremendous job. The general sound on the album fits the genre very well, and even though the music require a lot from the listener, you never seem to grow tired of As We Fight. They’re too much of a good experience to be put aside. After I’ve made this review, the cd will be put aside on my shelf, but only since I need to maintain a certain level of order on my desk. As We Fight has been a very interesting experience, and I’m sure that they will be placed in my cd-player sometime again soon. Thumbs up for a mix of killer vocals, rugged guitar work and drums pounding away like a kick-ass thunderstorm. The As We Fight line-up is: Jason Campbell and Laurits Medom (vocals), Michael Dal and Martin Olsen (guitar), Søren Hvidt (bass) and last but not least Casper Sennenwald on drums. As We Fight is embarking upon a tour in Denmark this fall. Together with fellow danes Hatesphere.
