Something as interesting as music with content and meaning. Not that it’s rare or not seen but if you “scratch the surface” a little on most records, they often seem to be shallow and superficial. The music may be both harmonic and well written but that’s all. Maybe it’s wrong to label Assert as harmonic. They’re something way different from that. Some of the readers may not have heard of Assert before. That’s a major flaw in your musical education, but who is perfect? But when you’ve read this review to the end, I’m sure you’re a lot wiser on Assert and their awesome sound. |

Assert is orientated towards punk. If you have a craze love for Cro Mags and Agnostic Front, or any band that sounds like them, Assert is the new band in your record collection. They’re straight forward and fast paced. And they don’t pose to be something else than they are – this is the real deal. The lyrics of Assert are about everyday issues, the many examples of indifference and unjust being carried out every day – from I.e. “the system”. And we all know what that means, right? Assert very clearly reflect the world as it is, where the borders and contrasts appears more glaring than ever before. |

Please keep up the direction you’re taking right now. It’s very important that someone take stand and tell others about it – also through music which is a great source of communication. At least it could be, if you know just how to use it. And I think that Assert do. This release is a great punk/hardcore album but also an important political statement. “Riotous Assembly” consist of 15 short high velocity straight forward punk’n’roll songs with lots of energy and attitude. I can’t emphasize one song as the best one on the album. They’re equally good and will help Assert to maintain a high level of quality for many years to come. |
