It’s a well known fact that the genre thrash came out of the Bay Area near San Francisco with such acclaimed names as Exodus, Death Angel and Testament. It happened several years ago, and since then the bands mentioned and a lot of others, has been defining the genre and developed it to what it is today. Therefore the thrash tradition is well established on the west coast of USA. But in other parts of the world the tradition is as proud as there. In Germany i.e. there are as many great thrash bands as anywhere else in the world. And the thrash tradition is as long as proud as anywhere else. Bands like Kreator, Destruction and Sodom has been parts of the scene since the mid-80´ties and still they carry on, making great records and perform well-attended shows all over the world. One of the German bands, who are a part of the European thrash scene, is Delirious who originated from the city of Hamm in the province of Nordrhein-Westfalen. Delirious was founded back in the early 90’ties, and their first release came out in 1997. It was an EP titled “Thoughtless”. Since then “Time in Progress” came in 1998 and “Designed by Violence”. And their most recent release “Made for the Violent Age” which will be out on Feb. 17th 2006 via the German label Armageddon Music. It was a very cleaver step businesslike to sign the band, because Delirious is so packed with quality that you won’t believe it. The band is very true to the genre, and exposes themselves as a band with a very dynamic and catchy sound. The front man Markus “Betty” Bednarek has a very characteristic and impressive voice, which fits the edgy and sharp tone in the music well. The band has eye for even the smallest details in the music, and Delirious aims to vary the tempo and hardness in the songs, without compromising the quality or credibility.

The version on this record is very far from the original, and it was probably not even the intension. But Delirious perform it in the same convincing way as the other songs on the album. Thumbs up for a band who knows their roots. There’s more info at www.armageddonmusic.de soon!
