Confusion in genres is what comes to my mind, when listening to this cd. The music appears as somewhat messy, because Flesh Divine tend to mix several genres on the same record. Now and then something good comes out of it, but this tims it really doesen’t work. Theres goth, dark ambience, death and black metal – all on one cd, and on several occations in the same song. And in the mainpart of the songs, the vocal has been manipulated way too much. Probably in order to appear as very growling and fierce. But unfortunately the voice has been fucked up beyond understanding. I simply couldn’t understand a word. And it didn’t help to look in the booklet for lyrics. For some odd reason there’s no lyrics but the label invite anyone interested in the lyrics, to get in touch with the label, who will send them upon request. This seems like a rather remarkable method – lyrics and general info on the band should be at hand at every time – printed on the booklet, and not lying in some draw at a label office somewhere. |
But based on how the vocal sounds, I’m pretty sure that it wouldn’t help me understand the lyrics, if I had them at hand! The singer simply sounds too fuzzy and distorted. My final statement is that the band should sit down and discuss, what genre in music they wish to pursue. The way they play now – several different genres at one time, makes it hard to cope with the sound. Otherwise Flesh Divine is a great band – it’s unconcealed to any audience, that each member know how to handle their instruments – respectively. But they should be content with just one genre in metal – probably goth which I think is their strongest force! The current line-up of Flesh Divine is as follows: Brother Justice making various statements, Necropis pressing keys and yanking his 6 strings, Nemesis banging the barrels and last but not least Legacy molesting the four stringer! |
