Forest of Impaled

"Forward the Spears"

Take Bathory, pump him full of coke and let him lose in a recording studio. Result: Forward the Spears by Forest of Impaled, one of several potent metal bands from Chicago.

There isn’t much time to get up to speed, because when the music starts it’s getgo from the beginning and only the fastest can follow. The tempo is up and the sound effects, which gives you the illusion of fighting swords and gallopping horses like in a battle of the middle ages, are nicely rounding off the sound picture which contains a raw energy and a insane intensity which can take the breat out of anyone.

The guitar play is devilicious, nothing less can do it. The sound is like a wreacking ball ripping down walls and the lightningfast changes in tempo are coming like shit out of a babys butt. The drums are making a earthquake like foundation for the massive metal compositions whose quality haven’t been seen/heard for a long time. Forest of Impaled is very potent music, a drink mixed of death and black where specially the vocal is adding something from a world we don’t often see but is just as real as where you and I am.

The song Thy Mighty Servant is without a doubt the best of the bunch. I feel like smashing my head into the speakers until it splits open and the grey gel like mass, which held memory, consiousness and thought processes, leaks out. Then a couple of dives from the stage and hopefully the concert will be over, because I’m beat.

Forest of Impaled drained my energy, but I’ll be up again soon because there’s plenty of great metal ahead of me and I want my share.
