Furia ”Un Lac de Larmes et de Sang”/”A Lake of Tears and Blood” |
|
Furia comes from the Macon area in France and consist of Damien on vocals, Seb on lead guitar, Mick on guitars and vocal, Guillaume on bass, Julien on drums and last but not least Mehdi on keyboards and synths. Furia was founded in June 1997 and publishes in the period between May 98 and March 99 two self produced and self financed albums. After its time to embark upon an extensive tour in France, where an amount of about 30 concerts are lined up. All concerts give the band good reviews and increase the crowd of fans extensively. After the successful tour Furia release a mini-cd named “The Garden of Eden”. The album is re-recorded later on to be used on the “A Search for The Past” which is published in September 2001 by French label Adipocere Records. A year where the main part is used on the road touring, Furia re-enter the studio to record “A Lake of Tears and Blood” which – as the previous album, is released through Adipocere Records. |
Furia has a solid foundation for a long career, and I feel confident that they will last for a long time. They have their basics down in a good way: Great lyrics wrapped in atmospheres changing from the symphonic to the more furious and progressive. This is an album that consists of equal parts of, melodic death and sounds of symphonic origin – delicious and smooth, and it will undoubtedly meet the requirements of all music lovers with good taste. The music is rock solid and very well produced. Furia has a classic sound that goes way above average. Again and again Furia proves that they have reached a level of professionalism and musicianship, that only very few bands reaches – ever! The vocal part of Furia is pretty average in its expression – Damien who sings both angry and growling which I did expect! And then there’s also a more bright side – Adeline from the band Akin who on several songs accompany Damien with a smoother and clear bright voice – aiming at perfection and is also very close to getting there. |

It is obvious that the production has taken a long time. No parts of the creative process of making this record has been forced or rushed through. The band and their producer has been very thorough with getting this record right, and they have succeeded making these 13 small musical masterpieces. If you are longing for a composition with equal parts aggressiveness and symphonic atmosphere and artistic perfectionism, you should point your attention to Furia and their release “A Lake of Tears and Blood”. |
