"Dilemmas"

In the beginning Highest Place was mostly playing cover versions of Metallica and Ozzy/Black Sabbath stuff. Since then Highest Place has developed a lot as a band, and has changed their musical expression tremendously.

Nowadays Highest Place is playing progressive and very experimental. There are a lot of breaks in the rhythm, and even more chords used to make this 10-tracker with a total playing time of a little over an hour. You do indeed get value for your money. Even if the Highest Place sound is a little complex – do read very experimental, I am sure you will find something there to satisfy your taste in metal. Maybe you need to listen to the CD a few times, but I can assure you that it’s worth your time. As I write these lines, I am listening to the CD for the second time, and I am picking up a lot of stuff, that I completely missed the first time. I wonder what stuff will appear, when playing the CD for the 6th or 7th time.

At http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/highestplace you’re able to listen to the songs on the previous Highest Place release called ”First Sight” and at http://cdbaby.com/cd/highestplace2 you can listen to the songs on the new CD. At both places you’re also able to grab your personal copy of the releases at a very reasonable price.

As I wrote before the CD has a total playing time of a little over an hour, and that gives place for songs that are composed with many different types of atmosphere and mood. Songs that are long and with a high level of complexity. Some of the songs are that complex, but my general impression with the CD is that the songs vary a lot. There’s an instrumental song like “It’s Always a Matter of Choice” which has a very junglelike kind of atmosphere with a nightmarish high-on-dope kind of twist to it. Does my mind get altered here? I wonder if Highest Place use that song as their intro at shows? It would work perfect at a stage with dimmed light and smoke cannons pumping like never before.
