"Chaos, bringer of all Revelations"

Quite an impressive and grandiose intro from a band that I’ve not heard of before.

This is Horned God and they’re from Brazil. Their label is Listenable who has a habit of putting one awesome album after another on the streets. And “Chaos, the bringer of all Revelations” is not an exception.

The intro is very different from the rest of the album. As you enter a stage of relaxation and tranquillity, horned God grab you by your balls with a very firm grip, and turn all hell loose on the second song on the album “War Goes On”. Here’s your first chance to experience Horned God as a very hellish and uncompromising band.

This is like Cannibal Corpse re-invented. Death metal of the most fierce and rough kind. A style in music that seems to take a bigger part of the total amount of records released. With such an amount of records put out, a couple of them are bound to be below average in both musical expression and producing. Horned God is way above that – they all play their best, the album is well produced, and the overall impression I get from listening to Horned God, is that all members of the band are highly skilled, and eager to deliver the best and most brutal sound of today.

The two guitarists of Horned God Fabiano Penna and ”Hudy” seems to have a couple of tricks up their sleeve. Tricks that no one else knows. I haven’t heard such great musicianship for a long time now. The way they play, fits the sound and atmosphere of the rest of the band like a glove. The style of Horned God in general is best described as non technical.

Here’s no use of samples or other electronically experiments. Horned God is kind of back to the basics in their setup. A vocalist, a drummer, two guitarists and a bass player. That’s it and that’s that – what more do you really need? A lot of bands have been doing great music for many years with such setup. And I must say that it’s quite refreshing to see that there are still bands out there, who dare not to wrap up their music in computer generated sounds.

But as simple as the sound is, the higher the level of intensity and velocity is. Except for the intro the album “Chaos, bringer of…….” is an album packed with high graded heavy metal of the most rugged and sharp kind.

“Chaos, bringer of……” is a good step towards fame and fortune. I’ve had a lot of pleasure listening to the album a couple of times while reviewing it. And I sure will take it down from the record shelf sometime in the near future.
