"Kokaiinum"

The eight album since 1993 and released on Die Hard Records. An album in a long line of brutal a dark releases from Illdisposed. Illdisposed is from Århus which has been the breeding ground for a long line of bands in the genre of rock which is really interesting and makes the pop people run away  screaming.

The album has a nice heavy and sharp sound and is produced by Jan Borsing which is easy to hear. No time is wasted on unnecessary melodic bridges and other irritating filler. Kokaiinum is brutal hardcore kick ass thread through the ears dead with the most wonderful guitar leads I’ve heard in a long time.

Sometimes I feel

That this time Im quite allright.

My rage misplaced

Those dreams about that guy

Then you can relax, study a couple of frogs or maybe it’s something else getting a snooze. Slimy green beasts with the same consistency as the grayish lump found in your mouth the morning after a Friday night where you really had to celebrate the weekend. A celebration where you party so heavily that you cannot tell the difference between a light pole and a taxi cab. But that doesn’t really have anything to do with the music, and then maybe it does……..

If it wasn’t because it’s late night I’d turn up the volume. It’s a real shame having to listen to this album at low volumes. Well, I really don’t have to but to preserve the good relationship I’ve got with the neighbors I’m letting it simmer. But I’ll find a way because this album is demanding that everything from volume to base is turned to the max.

Concert vise Illdisposed has been quiet. Not much has happened on Danish ground since Kløften Festival in Haderslev. On May 17th at JayJays in Struer something happened, almost a year to date from the gig at Kløften. As I’m writing this two more dates has been scheduled in Copenhagen and Aarhus. Hopefully more are planned for later, so maybe I’ll finally be able to see Richard Scarry live. This album is one of the best and it has nothing to do with the inset and the page where there’s a tiny little quote from one of the lyrics.

The  cool riffs and the rock heavy drums makes you bang your head so frequently that it’s in danger of falling off. The music is no frills, loads of solos and drums that hits you in the balls and a vocal which at times makes even the devil sound like a Sunday morning church choir.

It might sound like it’s been spiced a little too heavily for most people. Illdisposed is not for those who likes Back Street Boys or Brittney Spears. It is for boys and girls who are heavily into leather, army boots and several kegs of beer in the same evening. Illdisposed is party music for those with skin as a rhino and skull as an elephant, those who can stand the distance when it counts.

If you need a long lasting fix then try Kokaiinum. Yes it’s very heavy, but sometimes it has to be that way to make an impact. This album does.
