KODE "Closer To Home" |
|
So far, those lads from Køge just some 45 mins. drive SW of Copenhagen has done a pretty good job, getting the music done for their first release “Closer to Home” which is produced entirely at ZigZound in Aarhus. The two songs on the demo “Decision” and “Closer to Home” seem equal in many ways. They have the same level of brutality and intensity. There’s a lot of it actually, and still they have found place to add some melodic parts too. What vary the most are the vocals, which changes from crusty clean over distorted to ultradeathgrowl. Pay attention to the second song on the album – app. 2 minutes and 52 seconds into “Closer to Home” there’s a growl so evil, that the horned one may have blank eyes and a little smile over this. When thinking about the band in terms of genre, it isn’t an easy task, since they appear as a mix between several ways of kicking ass, which is what they to in general. |
They do remind me of other bands though. Tool and Fear Factory are bands that come to my mind. Midtempo dark and gloomy metal, extraordinaire from a band, still rather unknown in Denmark. But with this release, I am sure that they will boost their career to a higher level than before. KODE is a bunch of dedicated metal heads aiming to make a living out of their hobby. So far, they have proved their right to be a band. And now it’s up to you fans, bookers and promoters to give this fine outfit some attention. |
