Palt

"Promo Homo '05"

These days Denmark is the origin of a lot of great metal bands. Both the established ones with multi-record deals with the major labels, but the underground is also very much alive. It’s a fact that will make any Danish metal head proud, and that goes for me too. I am proud of the Danish metal scene at the moment. And those crazy metallers in PALT are a part of it. PALT comes from ancient times, when the mighty Vikings ruled Europe and all of Scandinavia. PALT is a dish made from wheat flour, corn flour, potatoes, salt and stuffing on basis of pork. Sounds like a decent meal, but it has nothing to do with the music the band is playing. PALT is not Viking metal, but more or less in the vein of Slipknot, Mudvayne and Machine Head. Those bands require musicianship of the highest level, and I must admit that the line-up of PALT meets that requirement without any problems.  PALT has been around for a couple of years, and they are located in Borup, some 50 kilometres west of Copenhagen, Denmark. Listening to the four tracks, is giving me the impression of a band with lots of skills and attitude. Metal Coven has reviewed PALT before, and back then it was an equally pleasure, as it is today. PALT is one of many bands with enough quality to last more than just the average lifetime of a metal band.

What is most important is the band members’ dedication to their project, and their luck with seeking a label. As far as I know, they are not on the prowl for a label to sign with for the time being, but it has to be the next step on the ladder. The name PALT is already well established within the Danish metal community, and the band has already gained a lot of stage experience during the shows in the last couple of years. Previous releases from PALT have been subject to criticism, because some reviewers stated that the songs were too similar, and it was hard to tell the difference. Oh well, that is now a subject of the past. Metal Coven has not found too little variety in the expression in the songs, and anything else that has been said, doesn’t stand anymore. Check out a song named “Comatosed” it’s very much in the vein of Slipknot, and on the last song of this album - “L5” PALT goes Infectious Grooved. Especially when it comes to the four stringer. PALT is ready to move along, and they should combine their resources in the quest for a record deal! Not only because they deserve it, but also because we think that it would be worth something to a label, to have PALT in their catalogue.  Enough said; now it’s time for some serious shit. Check out the PALT Mediapage to pick up some mp3’s and a few homemade like videos, showing PALT in studio and when cleansing a carpet for a huge stain of puke. Must have been one hell of a party;-)
