Scamp

"Re-draft"

Since Metal Coven reviewed the previous Scamp release “The New Groove Complex” a lot of things has happened in the band. The release did generate a lot of positive critique and since then, the Scamp line-up has become complete – almost. They are still in need of a four stringer, but for the recording of this album, O’Beast from Mnemic has filled the vacant spot.

“Re-draft” is the bait that eventually will make a label sign this fine outfit. Scamp is still not signed, and that is a disgrace. On the previous album we gave Scamp good critique due to the high level of tech skills the musicians have. And not to mention the production of the album.  All of that still stands. “Re-Draft” is as hard hitting and filled with energy as any other album out there.

Scamp kicks ass like never before yet a little more melodic, and it clearly shines through in the 3-track mix of roughness, edge, virtuosity and savagery. This is what makes the album so damn cool to listen to: the riffs, the aggressive growls, the drum pounding, and the molestation of the four stringer. It can’t get any better. “Re-Draft” is an album of high quality death with a major twist of atmosphere. And with the high level of technicality Scamps hovering a little above other bands that are looking for a place in the sun label wise.

I will cross my fingers, and pray that Scamp will gain a deal with a label this time. These guys have what It takes to make it big time. And somewhere there must be a label, looking out for a metal crew better than average.
