The genre consists of equal parts of hardness and “clinicality”, and doesn’t remind me of anything I’ve heard before. This is in itself interesting – could this be an upcoming and innovative act? The answer is partially yes. Despite the elements of traditional arrangements, as heard in many black metal compositions, there has also been room enough for some very interesting experiments when it comes to the use of sound effects. But the connection back to the more traditional genres of black metal and industrial has not been cut off which makes “Deathbed Revelation” digestible for most of those with an urge for the gloomy and brutal elements in music.

The Cold Beyond is a one-man act which seems more like a rule than an exception, for those acts that linger around, just beneath the surface of the great ocean of experimental metal music. There are a lot of those if you know where to look.

“Deathbed Revelation” has 9 songs with a very similar atmosphere and beat. The album is recommendable if you’re up for some experimental and somewhat untraditional music.
