Your Shapeless Beauty “My Swan Song” |
|
Over the years Your Shapeless Beauty had the same experiences as most other bands. Several changes in line-up and some minor releases – split cd’s and compilations and such. Nothing new under the sun. Talking about the music itself Your Shapeless Beauty is not pronounced in its style. The listeners are audience to a partial melodic death and grandiose doom – often with a ceremonial touch. A fact that does not compromise the amount of artistic quality in either atmosphere or the music. Your Shapeless Beauty has a lot to offer. There are periods when the music kicks ass in a very serious way - and then on the next song you experience total relaxation and tranquillity. Parts when you feel like leaning back enjoying the symphonic and mellow atmosphere that feels like a cold drink on the hottest day of the summer. |
In general the music is well played and perfect in all parts - well balanced and changing between several moods from the harsh and aggressive to the tranquil and meditative. This makes Your Shapeless Beauty's 3rd release ”My Swan Song” anything but boring experience. Despite the very praising words I have a complaint, which is probably related to the production of the record - and therefore not something to blame the band for. On the first 2 songs the vocal is so dimmed and silent, that it makes listening to it very hard - almost impossible. Not even with the booklet reading the lyrics while listening to the songs, I can hear the singer and that’s really a shame. But fortunately it changes after the first 2 songs. I will appoint Your Shapeless Beauty to be a good proof of the qualities of the French metal scene of today! Thumbs up for Your Shapeless Beauty which is a real beauty! |
